New Visme

The process of upgrading Visme started back in March of 2015. After eight months and thousands of man hours, we can comfortably say the new Visme is easier to use and all around more refined. It addresses over 30 user requests, incorporates new features and provides users with a much smoother experience.

When comparing the new Visme to our legacy version, users have reported an improvement of over 50% in productivity and a noticeable reduction in friction in their work flow.

If you are an existing user, you will not see any cosmetic changes in the Visme interface, but a cumulation of numerous small refinements (and new features) which will provide a smoother workflow and improve the overall user experience in comparison with the existing version.

I must say it is much improved! Kudos to your team for making updates to this tool. I knew it had more potential, and glad to see it coming together.

Customer Feedback Matters

The new upgrade is a direct result of thousands of user inquiries, suggestions and support tickets we have received from thousands of users over the last year.

I always tell anyone who uses or reviews Visme that we not only appreciate positive comments, but also crave constructive feedback. So to all of those who provided us with such feedback, thank you!

The new version is also going to help us achieve four primary goals:

1. Improve the overall user experience and productivity

2. Release new features on an ongoing basis to further simplify content creation

3. Improve stability and ability to scale Visme for the next phase of growth

4. Improve the development infrastructure to allow for faster deployment of features in the future

Snapshot of New Features

Here is a quick run-down of all the new things you will be able to do with the improved Visme, which can also be visualized through an eye-catching infographic (that we created with Visme, of course!) found at the end of this post.

A New Text Editor

The text editor has been revamped, allowing users to:

Add padding:
Add vertical and horizontal text padding. This small adjustment can serve users a great deal when converting text blocks into objects that can be placed over background elements or when creating an interactive button with hyperlinks.

Examples of proper padding combined with backgrounds.

Add granular styling:
Highlight portions of text and apply custom styling specifically to that content. You can now highlight words or phrases within a text block and apply styling while maintaining the rest of the content's formatting intact.

Use multiple fonts in one text box
In the former Visme text editor, it was not possible to have different fonts in the same text block. The new version provides further flexibility by allowing the use of multiple fonts and styles within the same block, reducing the number of layers needed to achieve the same effect.

Move text more easily
With the inclusion of thin padding around text blocks, you can more easily select and drag text around. In the former version, you were required to place the cursor precisely over the text block borders to select text.

Use updated Text Widgets
The new text widgets are layered. When dropped onto the stage, they can be moved to any desired position in your project area. And when deselected, they become ungrouped, allowing you to position and precisely size every layer to fit your needs.

Select and Move Multiple Objects

Select any number of objects, move and duplicate them (versus current setup of single object duplication).

Copy to slides

Copy multiple objects from one slide to another slide versus doing them one by one. This is very useful for users who want to copy a specific set of object(s) versus duplicating an entire slide.

Lock/Unlock Objects

Easily lock and unlock objects. Tired of that large image/shape behind your smaller object getting selected? Right click to launch the contextual menu and lock the object or apply other effects.

Global Color Palette

A color applied to an object or text will be saved into a global color library so it can easily be applied elsewhere. Every time you create a new color, it will be added to your global library so you can reuse it in the rest of your project.Global-color-palette

Audio Engine

One of the most requested features is the ability to upload your own audio MP3 files. We provide a fantastic library of audio tracks that can be attached to one slide (for presentations) or used as background music for an entire project.

You can even record your own audio, attach it and manage the timing and fade controls from one panel.

Charts

New chart types and the ability to compare sets of data
We have introduced new chart types, including doughnut-shaped charts. We have also added the ability to create series of data with non-circular charts to compare data values with each other.

Animated Charts
At the end of Q1, we will be releasing charts with animated effects which you can turn off and on.

Timeline Improvement

Everything runs off one timeline, including infograph widgets and audio, allowing for seamless control. This way, every animated object will appear on the same timeline.

New Templates & Themes

The new Visme offers users tons of new infographic templates that will make our previous selection look like child's play. We have released a set of 70 awesome infographics, and in the coming weeks, we will deploy hundreds more.

Every single template is carefully created with a specific purpose and designed for a specific industry and usage. (We will dig further into our data visualization approach in the coming weeks.)

What's Next?

We are actively improving Visme. With our legacy system, the pace of rollouts for new improvements and features was sluggish. Going forward, the pace will be noticeably improved, and we will provide monthly updates on new releases and tips and tutorials.

You can also visit our Support section to find new topics on how to use various features. Soon, we will also provide a slew of video tutorials and hacks which will help users get the most out of these new features. Stay tuned!
