Today we are interviewing Justin Kersey of Cake, a Non profit marketing agency based in Washington D.C.

A little over six months ago Cake began experimenting with Visme for their digital marketing initiatives and today it is being utilized on an ongoing basis to help present and communicate their ideas.

Here’s an short interview with founder Justin Kersey; he'll take us inside Cake and and how his agency is putting Visme to work:

What is Cake and what does it do?

Cake is a pioneer in digital cause marketing and sponsorship. Our new-to-market technology enables nonprofits to leverage their audience of passionate and enthusiastic fans to create valuable marketing relationships with businesses.

This week we are launching campaigns with the Boy Scouts and Great Outdoor Provision Co and The World Police & Fire Games and a consortia of businesses in the DC area. Check us out!

We’ve literally created a brand-spanking-new revenue stream that any nonprofit or cause on Earth can tap in to. That’s a big deal! Cake builds on the momentum of ‘personal branding,’ where anyone and anything can attract marketing and advertising dollars from big companies based on fan engagement.

Cake’s arrival to the market comes at a time when 90% of consumers prefer to do business with socially conscious brands and companies. With Cake, companies can not only support great nonprofits, but they can also get recognition for it while contributing to their bottom line!

You are a co-founder at Cake,
how did you start it?

justin-cakeI co-founded Cake a few years ago. We originally started out as an e-commerce company but we eventually found a sweet spot in cause marketing and sponsorship.  Our first product launched in December 2014. While I don’t have a defined role, right now I am the marketing, business development and user acquisition guy. C’est la vie of a start-up entrepreneur!

How did you hear about Visme and Why did you decide to adopt it over other tools?

I first heard of Visme during a TechBreakfast presentation. We decided to use Visme because we needed a way to easily demonstrate the value of Cake to potential users.

Visme has an awesome array of graphics and tools for presentations. We also decided to use Visme because it is a local company to the DC Area.

Can you tell our readers about a
couple projects you used Visme for?

Currently, the Cake team is organizing a digital coupon booklet campaign, ‘Baltimore Eats for Good’. 30 restaurants in Baltimore will provide a coupon or deal.

Cake will organize the coupons and deals into a digital booklet and our nonprofit users will sell those booklets to their family, friends and supporters. Our campaign goal is to raise $1,000,000 for Baltimore nonprofits. I created an infographic to help convey the value and details of the campaign to Baltimore City restaurants.

Here's a campaign we just launched for Baltimore Eats for Good website and the infographic we created using Visme to help with our outreach efforts:

Here are a couple more examples from a number of other campaigns we have successfully launched:

Cake Tip: Any nonprofits that are interested to participate in the campaign can do so. It’s free! So send me an email: [email protected]

What are some of the
features you like on Visme?

"I really like the infographic feature. It allows for the creation of professional quality infographics via drag and drop.  It couldn’t be easier to use. Graphic designers might want to start looking for a new job."

Would you recommend
others to use Visme?

I most definitely recommend Visme to other people. It is great for creating professional quality infographics and presentations.  Plus Payman, who's the founder of Visme is an awesome guy - very responsive and willing to go the extra mile!

No tool is perfect; what would
you want us to improve on?

My only suggestion is to improve positioning. Sometimes objects and text shifts or doesn’t render correctly when downloaded into a PDF or JPEG format.

Editor Note:  New version of Visme recently launched resolves most of the positioning issues reported by the user.
