Robert Jacobson is an entrepreneurial investor who works directly with organizations to help them grow in smart and achievable ways. One day, he decided to take a risk and look for alternative tools for creating visually appealing presentations.

After researching several other options online, he came across Visme and was pleased with the way it allowed him to privately share presentations with others with just the click of a button, not to mention the vast variety of graphic assets offered in comparison to traditional presentation tools.

We were able to interview Robert and find out a bit more about his experience with Visme. Here is what he had to say in his own words.

Tell us a bit about yourself:

My role as an entrepreneurial investor requires me to coach where there are less obvious but equally important issues to address and deal with, such as core values. From experience, I understand that there are numerous pains and challenges entrepreneurs face, and I let them know that I am in their court.

A good portion of my business involves having a wide and deep network that I can effectively leverage with my various partners and clients. Tools such as Visme are one of the things I use to engage with audiences to help grow and advance my network. I seek to enable individuals who work at client and partner organizations to achieve their dreams and beyond.

I’m fascinated and particularly interested in the following areas:

  • New Space (commercial space industry; think rockets, satellites)
  • Sustainability: Technologies and methodologies that will ultimately allow biological systems to remain “productive indefinitely”
  • Immersive technologies: Includes Augmented and Virtual Reality

What is your role at your company?

I co-founded Desert Sky Holdings in 2005 to invest in below-the-radar opportunities via private equity.

In 2010, I co-founded the Aerospace & Defense Forum, which is a global aerospace and defense leadership community that provides opportunities for sharing information and analysis, mutual support and encouragement, partnering, innovation, and performance breakthroughs.

What distinguishes your expertise from others?

One of my skills and strengths is improvisation. It’s a skill that I continue to fine tune and develop daily. I also have formal training in music improvisation which is helpful in being able to listen/watch for cues, adapt and maneuver.

I describe myself as a Master of Business Imagination & Improvisation.

How did you hear about Visme?

I recall it may have been via Quora. I was frustrated with other tools out there and open to experimenting with other options.

Tell us about what you created with Visme.

I am using Visme for both presentations and prototyping ideas. My first focused use was for a talk titled Space 2.0, as part of the inaugural Space Tide 2016 conference in Tokyo, Japan. I was conveying to the audience some concepts related to the emerging entrepreneurial space industry (frequently called New Space). I created this futuristic-looking slide deck with Visme to support my talk at the event.

I have also used Visme to create images to support articles I publish on Medium, such as this one.

What features do you like the most?

Visme1
  1. I love how easy it is to use.
  2. I think private online publishing is a terrific feature. I can give links to select recipients for private viewing.
  3. The graphic elements Visme provides are superb. No need to go hunting online as Visme has a really wide collection to choose from. They also seem to emote fun, which is many times completely ignored by other available presentation tools.

Would you recommend Visme to others?

Yes, I already have. I recommend it because it’s easy to use and looks "fun-tastic."

What features would you like to see improved?

Sometimes when I’m adding or modifying text, slightly annoying boxes cover the text edit areas. It could be useful to have an easy way to create a two-by-two competitive matrix or petal diagram.
